As former high volume collection attorneys, we understand that sometimes, maybe, you might overlook some paperwork, attachments, the day of the year 🙂 — or maybe you forgot to schedule a hearing with us which you needed covered by one of our awesome network attorneys. Since our attorneys are on top of their game, they will usually notice a hearing (or two) at court which you don’t have coverage for…
To be honest, this has happened a lot. We’re not mad! It’s part of the business. In the past, our attorneys will step up, get your hearing taken care of, then shoot us an e-mail or phone call to tell us what happened and then LCC staff had to do the leg work with coordinating, approving, getting our attorney compensated, etc.
As our in-house techGuru likes to say: “Rule #74: If we have to do it more than twice, it needs to be automated.” Or…something like that. So, we automated this issue. Here’s what we did:
An attorney appears at court to cover a hearing which you already posted through LCC. The attorney comes back to his/her computer and uploads the report for that hearing. After they save the report, there will be a new button on top of their page:
That’s right. Our attorney can now let our clients know when they covered a hearing for them which was not posted through LCC. After they click that button, they will be brought to a short screen which asks them to input the case information and their report:
Once they fill out the report for that hearing and click save, the hearing will be unpublished in our system. An e-mail is set to our client informing them of the situation and requesting action. This is where our client needs to authorize or deny the additional, unscheduled, hearing. For our clients: This is very easy. Log in and go to the “Unpublished Hearings” widget. Click on the hearing. From there you can authorize or deny the hearing. If you deny it, our attorneys would appreciate a reason why. Alternatively, you can just click on the link in the e-mail we sent you.
